I took this photograph when I was touring the Napalli Coast of Kauai. This fertile valley was home to generations of Kauaians as they strived to create a new civilization in a place where humanity had never been, and now hosts millions of small animals that have made it their home for the same reason. The power of life in this place is palpable and has as sacred an aura as anything that I have ever seen.
